Malcolm Hutchinson, the Gentleman Adventurer
Malcolm has to find a new job
Unfortunately, the GFC has caught up with Tasmania, and the bottom has fallen out of the Cultural Heritage Industry here. So I'll be looking for work in Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Please see my curriculum vitae, my archaeological work history and a long list of my skills.

Welcome
Hi. My name is Malcolm Hutchinson. I am an archaeologist and cultural heritage consultant currently working in Hobart, Australia. This is my personal website, a place to keep all the various scribblings I have been furiously creating since I was about 20 years old (quite a while ago now).
See my work history and Curriculum vitae.
What's here...
Tullah, Tuesday 24 April 2012
Finished my course in Armidale. Now I'm off to the West Coast of Tasmania on a field survey. It is very, very raining and the forecast is for no better!.
I have just released my first ever public computer program, being a Python program to extract location data from digital photographs.
Back into study for the Grad Dip GIS as of the end of February. In particular, the units Remote sensing and Project management.

If these pages look unfinished, it's because they are. This website is an ongoing project -- experiments in website design, an online Curriculum Vitae, an archive of my professional and personal writing and a place to record notes, techniques and things I am learning. The aim is that it will never be finished.
Be advised, you will probably find some dead links, as I change the names and places of various pages and forget that they can be linked from other pages. My life is untidy... so is my website.
I am sort of slowly fixing the the second of those, but I kinda like the first.
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
Ulysses by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Here is another poem I am rather fond of.
This is a photograph of the south west face of Aoraki/Mt Cook, I took in April 2005 from the balcony of a pub at Mount Cook Village. I just really wanted to be up there, but couldn't, as I had arrived on a bicycle and had no climbing gear with me.
